Istockphoto price increases for 2009 |

Microstock giant Istockphoto will be making some major changes in 2009. Standard images will increase in price and they will also introduce a new size category XXX Large for files bigger than 5600 x 3700.
Around April 2009 they will introduce a new pricing system for their dollar bin, increasing the collection to hold 200,000 images. 
In May 2009 they will release a new premiere collection containing their best exclusive images.
Vectors, Flash and Video will remain at the 2008 pricing levels with the introduction of some large file sizes. Vectors and Flash

New in 2009 they will begin to sell Audio files.
Credit packages will increase and a new currency converting policy will apply. They intend to update currency conversions once a month for greater stabilty for buyers. Istockphoto will continue to honor credits bought in 2008 so you might want to buy up now to take advantage of this years prices. Demotix has launched a new community-generated news photo library. While still in beta form, it is a promising new source allowing citizen journalism to reach commercial photo buyers. Prices are not yet automatic but their press release suggests they will start from $150 to $3000 for non-exclusive images. Sales are split 50/50 with the photographer. www.demotix.com |
